About
My name is Dan Hinz.
I am married to a wonderful and beautiful woman, Natalie.
Currently, I am planting Grassroots Church, a missional community seeking to bring the love of Jesus to the de-churched. I am also recently finished my first book, Why the Church Needs More Bartenders.
In my spare time, I am finishing up my Masters Degree in the Missional Church at Northern Baptist Seminary under David Fitch.
Longer Intro:
I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church. But God really began flipping my world upside down when I went away to Hope College in Holland, MI. My years at Hope are invaluable to me and were incredibly formational. I divided my time pretty equally between chapel and fraternity basements.
After my four years at Hope, I hopped in a van with a buddy of mine and spent the summer travelling the country. After that adventure, I flew to Australia to work as a missionary for a while. When I returned to the states that next year, I enrolled at Western Theological Seminary. I dropped out after my first year, mostly due to the fact that I met a certain young lady. After a year of bartending and dating Natalie, I re-enrolled at Northern Seminary. At Northern, I hang out with David Fitch and am finishing myMasters degree in the Missional Church.
I passionately believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is for all those people who never would step foot in a church. And I am avid about helping the church embrace its missional calling.
Besides all that, I am addicted to watersports. I survive the midwest winters by playing a little ping pong and the occassional ski trip. My worldly and unrealistic dream to have a lake house in Lake Geneva and ski every morning.
